Therapy, books and events on one site
Ants Rootslane is a systemic therapist, author and host of the podcast "Minu elu, minu reeglid". The site had to present his services, sell books and tickets to his talk evenings, and let a client book an urgent appointment and pay for it straight away.
A booking calendar of our own
Instead of an off-the-shelf booking plugin we built a calendar that sells a free slot as a WooCommerce product through the normal checkout. Free times come from a REST API per location, and at checkout the slot is re-checked under a database lock, so two people can never buy the same time. The therapist is notified only once the payment lands, and the client gets a calendar file.
QR tickets without a plugin
Every paid seat gets its own signed code, the PDF ticket arrives with the email and also sits in the customer's account. At the door the QR is scanned with a phone, a ticket cannot be used twice, and tickets from cancelled or refunded orders void themselves.
A switch without a pause
The store kept taking orders the whole time. So we never overwrote the database: all new content went into the live store as repeatable scripts, rehearsed on a staging copy first.
What changed
- Booking and payment in one step - the client picks a time and pays, the therapist only sees paid slots.
- Ticket sales and door check-in in one system - no separate ticketing platform and no platform commission.
- A fast site - the custom consent banner loads tracking scripts only after consent.
